Applying Artificial Intelligence techniques to solve life’s problems
Quality Software Development for ad hoc projects

Currently I am focusing on quickly implementing a series of low-capital, and low-time-investment ideas in order to evolve a final direction for this company.

Grocist Updates

I’ve fixed the issue where if you log in on one computer, you get logged off any other computers. You can now be logged into Grocist from as many computers as you want (up to 10).

Please let me know right away if you have any issues logging in, out, or otherwise.

I’ve also created a place where you all can suggest and vote on new features for Grocist. Go ahead and give it a whirl.

If you’re not familiar with Grocist, it’s a free online grocery list that accepts UPC barcodes as well as text entries. It even stores your club cards for you. Go check it out now.

Request and Vote on New Utilities for Utility Mill

I added a Utility Mill section to the new feature voting site featurelist.org.

So go check it out if you want to suggest utilities for people to make, features to add to the site, or just want to get some ideas for a utility to make yourself.

I seeded it with the following requested utilities:

Change tabs in Python source to use 4 spaces
Regex search and replace
Run pyLint on your code
DTD/XML Schema Generator (xml)
GUI for mysqldump
Enter a matrix, get the eigen vectors, etc

Just One Club Card Innovation

Just one club card user Mark has come up with a clever way to block all but the barcode you want to use when at the store. He cut one side of the card into fingers:

So you just fold over all the barcodes you want to block leaving on one visible for the scanner at the store you’re at to read.

(The sleeve is another viable method to accomplish this.)

Utility Mill gets New Pages and RSS Feeds

I’ve added the following pages to Utility Mill (instant hosted Python apps) to make it easier to find new useful utilities and generally keep an eye on things:

All of those pages also now have RSS feeds. In fact Utility Mill is now crawling with RSS feeds!

In addition to the pages mentioned above, we’ve also got feeds to see revisions made to any utility, and feeds to see what utilities any user has created or worked on.
